First Heart Pump Implanted in Central Florida

A titanium heart pump, weighing less than one pound, is keeping 50 year-old Darren Miller alive. The pump, called a Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) was surgically attached to Miller's heart and will help pump blood around his body while he waits for a heart transplant.

The new expansion includes four new technologically advanced, pediatric operating rooms, 12 private pre- and post- operating rooms, as well as a family lounge and consultation room.

Healthy 100 Kids Program Launches

Children between the ages of six to 10 took to the lawn in front of Florida Hospital for Children running in an obstacle course with legendary golfer Annika Sorenstam. This unique display was designed to visually show the types of challenges that parents often face when trying to care for the health of their child as well as announce the launch of Florida Hospital for Children's
