    First Heart Pump Implanted in Central Florida

    A titanium heart pump, weighing less than one pound, is keeping 50 year-old Darren Miller alive. The pump, called a Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) was surgically attached to Miller's heart and will help pump blood around his body while he waits for a heart transplant.

    The Walt Disney Pavilion at Florida Hospital for Children is expanding its facility to better serve pediatric patients in Central Florida. The new expansion includes four new technologically advanced, pediatric operating rooms, 12 private pre- and post- operating rooms, as well as a family lounge and consultation room.
