Florida Hospital Apopka Breaks Ground on New Campus
Florida Hospital Apopka Unveils Plans for New Campus at Dedication Ceremony
Community gathers for a sneak peek of the future of health care in the region
APOPKA, Fla., March 31, 2015 — Community members, elected officials and Florida Hospital staff and leadership gathered to dedicate the future site of Florida Hospital Apopka at an outdoor ceremony and unveiled plans for the project.
“To meet the expanding health care needs of our community, Florida Hospital Apopka is planning a new campus with greater capacity and enhanced services,” said Jennifer Wandersleben, vice president and administrator of Florida Hospital Apopka. “We will continue to offer ER, cardiology and imaging services, and look forward to growing our Women’s Center, outpatient rehab program and ICU.”
With the move, Florida Hospital Apopka also plans to add surgical services and a diagnostic cath lab.
The new hospital will reflect the character of Apopka by incorporating local greenery into the design and landscaping. Plans for the hospital include 120 private patient rooms and architecture that will bring abundant natural light indoors.
“Healing is much more than medicine, and other factors that influence wellness such as natural light, greenery and the serenity of a private space were priorities while designing the new Florida Hospital Apopka,” Wandersleben said.
Florida Hospital Apopka’s future location is at the intersection of several major access roads, and will generate up to 300 new job opportunities in both clinical and non-clinical areas.
“For 40 years, Florida Hospital Apopka has been providing leading-edge and compassionate care for our community,” said Apopka Mayor Joe Kilsheimer. “I’m excited to open this new chapter in Apopka’s history as we grow and improve together.”
