ORLANDO, Fla., Feb. 4, 2009 - Yesterday, all of StockCross Global's trading proceeds were donated to Florida Hospital Cancer Institute's Pediatric Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant Units. Since founder Gerry Mastrianni's passing in November 2008, Trading for a Cure continues. This is a one-day annual event that has raised more than $500,000 to date.
Founder of Trading for a Cure, Gerry Mastrianni, was diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease in 1999. Following the diagnosis, he received treatment at the Florida Hospital Cancer Institute and later received a bone marrow transplant. During treatment, Mastranni witnessed the pain children were enduring while receiving the same uncomfortable treatments he was receiving. From that moment on, he founded Trading for a Cure, and vowed to help the children he saw suffering. All of the funds contributed help continue research, purchase additional medical equipment, and create a more comfortable stay for children.
