WHAT: Florida Hospital nutritionist and national bestselling author of "Super Sized Kids: How to Rescue Your Child from the Obesity Threat," Sherri Flynt ,will be conducting information sessions for Central Florida's education professionals to provide them with the tools and training to bring health and wellness solutions to today's children. School administrators, principals, coaches, nurses, health teams, teachers and PTA members are all encouraged to come out and learn about Sherri's approach to children's health. All guests will receive training materials and activities to use in the classroom. Also, guests will be taken on a VIP tour of the new Walt Disney Pavilion at Florida Hospital for Children. Together, Central Florida teachers and Florida Hospital for Children can help families live a healthier lifestyle.
BACKGROUND: Sherri Flynt, MPH, RD, LD, is head of the Center for Nutritional Excellence at Florida Hospital where she has played a pivotal role in developing a pediatric obesity program. As a champion for healthy eating, she works with Central Florida families that are struggling with the challenges of making healthy choices in today's world. Sherri believes that small changes in everyday decisions really do reap big health benefits. With more than 20 years of experience in nutrition education and public health, Sherri has been certified by the American Dietetic Association in Adult and Childhood and Adolescent Weight Management. She was a key member of the Childhood Obesity Taskforce in Central Florida and has given hundreds of community and corporate presentations on childhood and adult nutrition.
