ORLANDO, Fla., March 18, 2009 - Five leaders who have helped shape the country's public health are coming together for the first time in more than a decade to talk about the health of children in the United States. On Wednesday, March 18, five former U.S. Surgeons General will gather at Florida Hospital for a historic community forum as part of the Florida Hospital for Children Distinguished Lecture Series.
The health leaders will discuss how conditions such as diabetes, obesity and asthma are impacting the health and future of children today.The free community event will include a panel discussion immediately followed by a question and answer period.
The five United States Surgeons General are scheduled to attend this historic event include, Richard Carmona, M.D., M.P.H.; Joycelyn Elders, M.D.; Antonia Novello, M.D., M.P.H., PhD; David Satcher, M.D., PhD; Kenneth Moritsugu, MD, MPH (Deputy Surgeon General). State Surgeons General from Florida and Arkansas are also expected to attend.
