WHAT: As part of American Heart Month, Florida Hospital Apopka will host a lecture
titled "State of the Heart" on Feb. 25. Dr. Khurram Shahzad, medical director of
cardiology, will give the lecture to address concerns about general heart issues and
different facets of heart disease.
BKGRD: Heart disease is responsible for more than half a million deaths each year, making it
the number one leading cause of death in the United States. The American Heart
Association advises that lowering cholesterol and blood pressure is the best chance of
preventing heart disease. This can be achieved with good nutrition and exercise.
