New Physician Joins Surgical Specialists of Florida Hospital

ORLANDO, Fla., Sept. 27, 2007 - Surgical Specialists of Florida Hospital, located in the Florida Hospital Orlando Medical Plaza, is pleased to welcome Dr. Jean A. Fung to its medical staff. 

In addition to seeing patients at Surgical Specialists of Florida Hospital, Fung also serves as a faculty member for the Florida Hospital General Surgery Residency Program.

Fung is board certified in General Surgery and has received additional training in Minimally Invasive Surgery. Fung received her bachelor's degree in biology at the University of New Orleans.  She attended medical school at Louisiana State University Health Science Center in Shreveport. 

Fung completed her residency training at Louisiana State University Health Science Center in New Orleans where she graduated in July 2006 after weathering Hurricane Katrina as Chief Resident. In her final year of residency, she was awarded the Professors Award for Overall Excellence in Clinical Performance.

After Hurricane Katrina passed, Fung presented her experiences to the 2006 Clinical Congress of the American College of Surgeons.
