EA Tiburon Visits Florida Hospital for Children to Share Video Game Fun with Young Patients
ORLANDO, Fla., Feb. 16, 2010 - Florida Hospital for Children to share some entertainment and fun with young patients. The hospital's playrooms were filled with children as EA game developers and artists delivered 30 new video games and T-shirts, drew individual caricatures and played Rock Band® on the Wii gaming system.
This visit marks the second year that EA Tiburon has visited and donated to Florida Hospital for Children. For more than 10 years, this gaming company has created interactive video games that enable children and sports enthusiasts alike to score a winning touchdown, tee-off with top golfers and strum alongside their favorite guitarists. These digital games are often therapeutic in creating a whimsical world for pediatric patients to escape into a new element of imagination.
"It's amazing that our work can bring so much joy to children in need," said Paul Kasheuk, EA Tiburon art director. "Watching the kids smile and laugh while playing our games is an extremely rewarding part of my job."
The EA Tiburon team brought 30 of the company's newest games including Madden NFL® Football 2010, NCAA® Football, EA SPORTS MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) and the very popular Rock Band®. The patients were elated as the EA gamers showed them new tricks about each game and gave them insight into the overall design process. Graphic artists drew intricate caricatures for the children, illustrating them playing their favorite sport. EA also brought along T-shirts for the patients to paint and decorate.
"This visit was awesome!," elated 14 year-old Raymond Ortiz, a patient at Florida Hospital for Children. "I got to play all of my favorite games with the guys who actually created them. It definitely didn't feel like I was in the hospital."
