ORLANDO, Fla., May 10, 2010 - Vickie Smith is busy planning custom music selections, preferred artwork, food choices and accommodating her client's every wish for her special day. However, Vickie isn't planning a wedding; she is planning a personalized birth experience at Winter Park Memorial's Dr. P. Phillip's Baby Place. There is a new trend for expectant moms to make the birthing experience as personalized as possible and the Winter Park Baby Place is now available to take care of every detail for expectant mothers in Central Florida.
"It is so comforting to know that all of the details for my special day are being taken care of. Everything from what the room will look like to making sure my out-of-town family has a place to stay is all being taken care of by the hospital," said mom-to-be Shannon Wilfong. "All I have to do is relax and enjoy the most exciting moment of my life."
Moms looking for that personal experience during delivery can now turn to the Winter Park Baby Place to have access to high quality care with a wide variety of amenities and choices. At this boutique hospital, families can enjoy amenities including a 24/7 concierge, who can arrange things such as hotels for out-of-town guests or provide complimentary shopping assistance. Other amenities include free mommy and daddy massages, afternoon tea and scones, a relaxation lounge with daily smoothie choices, nightly turndown service, gourmet celebration dinners, baby portraits and much more.
"Having a baby is truly life's most precious and miraculous moment," said Vickie Smith, RN, birth experience designer at the Baby Place. "At the Winter Park Baby Place we have the ability to make the entire experience everything a mommy could ever want. As a birth designer and a registered nurse, I'm mom's advocate, making sure her needs are met physically and mentally and with all the luxuriously amenities she deserves."
The new three-story, 97,000-square-foot Dr. P. Phillips Baby Place offers unique boutique services to make it feel like every day is Mother's Day. The Baby Place is reminiscent of a boutique hotel with warm colors, ultra-soft linens and personalized service. The expansion doubled the capacity of the Baby Place from 18 suites to 36 suites, all of which are concierge level ensuring that each mother has a truly memorable experience. Each suite is equipped with hardwood floors, private bathrooms, mini refrigerators, an interactive flat-screen television, an iPod docking station, a DVD player and a large sleeping sofa for family and friends spending time with delivering mothers.
The recently expanded Baby Place also includes 10 new labor and delivery rooms, three cesarean-section operating rooms, four new triage rooms, a nursery and a new neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), which is one of the first NICUs in Central Florida to provide pull out beds for mothers to sleep in the room with their child. The Dr. P. Phillips Baby Place at Winter Park Memorial Hospital expects more than 3,500 deliveries a year with the opening of the newest addition.
