ORLANDO, Fla., June 8, 2010 - Lieutenant Governor Jeff Kottkamp presented Florida Hospital with the 2010 Governor's Sterling Award on Friday, June 4 for achieving performance excellence in health care. The Governor's Sterling Award celebrates its recipients for outstanding performance and accomplishment within management and operations, recognizing Florida Hospital for its exceptional faith-based service. Florida Hospital is a two-time recipient of the Governor's Sterling Award.

"I am honored to recognize this year's Sterling Award recipients," said Governor Crist. "This year's winners have demonstrated their commitment to improving health care in Florida. The process of competing for the award alone encourages organizations to pursue excellence and improve service."  

For 18 years, the Governor's Sterling Award has challenged organizations to cultivate motivation to better serve their communities through leadership, strategic planning and stronger workforce and customer focus. In competing for this prestigious honor, recipients showcase their establishment of effective practices and attainment of challenging organizational goals. This award recognizes those organizations that are role models for remarkably strong performance.

Based on a detailed review process, the prestigious award uses criteria that are nationally recognized as the world-class standard for organizational excellence. The examiner team visits each organization to interview employees at all levels for a comprehensive analysis. The Governor's Sterling Award considers a range of organizations from governmental agencies to privately owned businesses.
