Florida Hospital Kissimmee Continues Construction on New Medical Office Building to Better Serve Community

KISSIMMEE, Fla., Oct. 29, 2008 - Florida Hospital Kissimmee currently serves a population of more than 210,000 people, and that number is expected to grow by more than 22 percent by 2010.  To help keep pace with the increasing health care needs of the residents in Osceola, Orange and Polk counties, Florida Hospital Kissimmee recently broke ground on a new Medical Office and Outpatient Services Building, which is scheduled for completion by fall 2009.

The three-story, approximately 85,000-square-foot tower will be the new face of the hospital. It is expected to house physician offices for specialists in gynecology, orthopedics, pulmonology, gastroenterology and general surgery, and will also provide a new imaging services center and outpatient (same-day) surgery facility. The approximately $25 million project is contracted by PCL and the architect is Rogers, Lovelock & Fritz.

"This new expansion should really help to revitalize the Kissimmee community surrounding the

hospital, and will also create new jobs," said Florida Hospital Kissimmee CEO & Administrator Bill Haupt. "We are extremely pleased to have this project underway and look forward to serving more patients in the Kissimmee area."

Florida Hospital Kissimmee is a full-service community hospital dedicated to bringing mission-focused care to its patients.  The hospital recently completed a multi-million dollar upgrade to the surgical and intensive care units in addition to renovating patient rooms. Projects like this and the new medical office building expansion are made possible through the generous philanthropic support of the community.
