Florida Hospital East Orlando "Tops Out" New Tower Expansion

ORLANDO, Fla., Feb. 22, 2006 - The pouring of the last elevated concrete portion of the new tower at Florida Hospital East Orlando was recently celebrated.  This Topping Out ceremony signified the completion of a major part of the tower construction.  Employees, physicians and construction crew enjoyed food, music and games, including an Employee Build-Off Contest in which employee teams constructed their own rendering of the new tower.  Items were also placed in a time capsule that will be preserved in the new tower.

The $73 million expansion at Florida Hospital East Orlando will include 200,000 square feet of additional space, a new main lobby and entrance, a state-of-the-art MRI, hundreds of new parking spaces, a renovated and expanded imaging department, and a 5-story patient tower that can accommodate 160 beds.  This project began in January to add inpatient beds, create additional outpatient services, and to increase the number of experienced medical staff.
