ORLANDO, Fla., Nov. 12, 2009 - As Florida Hospital for Children begins to remodel its old units to
make way for the new Walt Disney Pavilion, 40 pediatric patients temporarily moved to the 14th
floor of Florida Hospital's Ginsburg Tower. All of the equipment and pediatric patients were moved
in approximately two hours this morning during a special "parade," with the help of the Florida
Hospital staff. Pediatric patients will now have individual rooms on the new floor with spectacular
views, as well as GetWellNetwork technology to play games and watch movies on a flat screen
television.
The renovations on the old unit are expected to take more than a year to complete, and
when completed pediatric patients will also have private rooms.
"This is a very exciting day, as the pediatric patients moved to a beautiful location while
construction is underway on the Walt Disney Pavilion units," said Marla Silliman, administrator of
Florida Hospital for Children. "We are starting a new era where all children's rooms will be private
rooms, and the new unit will be a tremendous healing environment for these little patients."
