Premier Award for Quality recognizes high-quality care and operational efficiency

Orlando, Fla., June 21, 2006 - Today, Florida Hospital Apopka announced it has been recognized by the Premier Inc. healthcare alliance as a winner of the Premier Award for Quality in the area of Heart Failure. 

Verbelee Nielsen-Swanson, Florida Hospital Apopka administrator, accepted the award at the 2006 Premier Annual Breakthroughs Conference & Exhibition in Orlando this morning.

The Premier Award for Quality is based on quality and cost data regularly submitted to Premier for reporting and benchmarking purposes. The award is distinguished by its consideration of performance-based criteria, including clinical quality outcomes, clinical process indicators and resource utilization outcomes.

Hospitals that submitted data to Premier's PerspectiveTM clinical comparative database, the largest clinical comparative database in the nation, between October 2004 and September 2005, were eligible to receive the 2006 Premier Award for Quality.
