Orlando, Fla., June 21, 2006 - Today, Florida Hospital Apopka announced it has been recognized by the Premier Inc. healthcare alliance as a winner of the Premier Award for Quality in the area of Heart Failure.
Verbelee Nielsen-Swanson, Florida Hospital Apopka administrator, accepted the award at the 2006 Premier Annual Breakthroughs Conference & Exhibition in Orlando this morning.
"Florida Hospital Apopka is committed to providing the best quality care to all of our patients while also fulfilling our mission - to extend the healing ministry of Christ," Nielsen-Swanson said. "Our physicians and employee team are continuously striving to offer the highest quality patient care on a daily basis. Receiving this prestigious award in the area of Heart Failure is an honor and demonstrates our daily commitment to quality health care delivered with efficiency and compassion, resulting in improved patient outcomes."
The Premier Award for Quality is based on quality and cost data regularly submitted to Premier for reporting and benchmarking purposes. The award is distinguished by its consideration of performance-based criteria, including clinical quality outcomes, clinical process indicators and resource utilization outcomes.
"The Premier Award for Quality honors clinical excellence in both quality of care and operational efficiency, differentiating its winners as industry leaders that deliver outstanding patient care while reducing the cost of healthcare by improving resource utilization," said Stephanie Alexander, senior vice president and general manager of Premier Healthcare Informatics.
Hospitals that submitted data to Premier's PerspectiveTM clinical comparative database, the largest clinical comparative database in the nation, between October 2004 and September 2005, were eligible to receive the 2006 Premier Award for Quality.
