WHAT: The spirit of Christmas lives in the hearts of children. Every child dreams of
visiting Santa's workshop and this year, dreams are coming true for a special
group of children - pediatric cancer patients from Florida Hospital for Children. On
Saturday, these little patients will have a chance to take a 'flight' to the North
Pole! These children and their families will board Continental Airlines flight 1225
that will 'take off' and then 'land' in an airplane hangar transformed into a winter
wonderland. Once in the hangar, they will enjoy visits from Santa and Mrs. Claus,
several dance groups in the community, local police officers and even penguins
from SeaWorld Orlando! There will also be an obstacle course, ornament and
cookie decorating, interactive dancing and holiday treats to help everyone get in
the holiday spirit.
The "Flight to the North Pole" is held by the Children's Center for Cancer and
Blood Diseases at the Florida Hospital Cancer Institute, in conjunction with
Continental Airlines. Come and celebrate the holiday season with these pediatric
patients battling cancer, as they escape doctors and hospitals for this
unforgettable journey!
