ORLANDO, Fla., Aug. 27, 2009 - Local athletes and representatives from Fan Stamp, a company that designs press-on, hypoallergenic face and body make-up, are bringing spirit to cheer up pediatric oncology patients at Florida Hospital for Children. During a special "pep rally," athletes from local high schools and University of Central Florida, as well as Orlando Magic mascot STUFF, will join Fan Stamp to bring encouragement to these little fans as they undergo treatments. The athletes will "draft" children to be honorary members of their teams and assist in applying press-on, hypoallergenic make-up as they interact with the children and distribute spirit gear from their schools.
The inspiration for fan Stamp came from a story on HBO's Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel where the Northwestern women's lacrosse team formed a relationship with a nine-year-old brain tumor patient who is now cancer-free. Fan Stamp owner, Scott Siegel, decided to partner with local Central Florida schools to create a "fan club" to support children battling cancer.
Unlike temporary tattoos, Fan Stamp uses hypoallergenic, mineral-based make-up so it can be safely applied to sensitive skin, including eyelids, and can then be wiped off with make-up remover. The company's designs include sports team logos, animals, butterflies and more.
