Florida Hospital Executive Terry Owen Earns Top Healthcare Management Credential
ORLANDO, Fla., April 28, 2010 ─ Senior Vice President of Florida Hospital Orlando, Terry Owen, recently became a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE), the nation's leading professional society for health care leaders.
Fellow status represents achievement of the highest standard of professional development. To obtain this status, candidates must fulfill multiple requirements that include passing a comprehensive examination, meeting academic and experiential criteria, earning continuing education credits and demonstrating professional and community involvement. Fellows are also committed to ongoing professional development and undergo recertification every three years.
"Because health care management ultimately affects the people in our communities, it is critically important to have a standard of excellence promoted by a professional organization," says Thomas C. Dolan, president and chief executive officer for ACHE. "By becoming an ACHE Fellow and simultaneously earning board certification from ACHE, healthcare leaders can show that they are committed to providing high-quality service to their patients and community."
Owen adds the FACHE credential, which signifies board certification in healthcare management and ACHE Fellow status, to other distinguished credentials including a Jurisprudence Doctorate and a Masters of Health Administration. He has been with Florida Hospital since 2000 and has worked in the healthcare arena since 1983 serving at hospitals in both Tennessee and Georgia. Prior to joining Florida Hospital, Terry was the President and CEO of Emory-Adventist Hospital in Atlanta, Ga.
