Florida Hospital Offers Class D Security Officer Training Course

WHAT:   The Florida Hospital Security Academy is teaching a five-day, 40-hour, Class D Security Officer training class.

BKGRD:    The Florida Hospital Security Academy has been given state approval to instruct those who would like to become licensed security officers and is the only hospital security training program in the state.  Class D Security Officers can work in a wide variety of security positions. Graduation will lead to the state certification necessary to work as a private security officer in many companies. Students who complete the course with the Florida Hospital Security Academy are not guaranteed employment at the hospital, but would be strongly considered if positions are available.  The cost of the course is $100 for the five-day class.

Opened in 1908, Florida Hospital is a faith based institution focused on providing whole person care. It is one of the largest not-for-profit hospitals in the country, caring for more than a million patient visits per year - that's more than any other hospital in the country, according to the American Hospital Association.  The more than 2,000-bed system is comprised of eight hospitals and 19 Centra Care locations throughout Central Florida. In 2009, Florida Hospital received the Joint Commission's "Gold Seal of Approval." Florida Hospital is also a two-time recipient of the Governor's Sterling Award (1994 and 2010) for performance excellence.
