A New 'Wave' of MRI Equipment Comes to Florida Hospital Celebration Health's Island-Themed Imaging Center

Celebration Health gets MRI scanner with new capabilities, benefiting larger patients and athletes

CELEBRATION, Fla., Dec. 9, 2009 - Professional wrester and actor, Kevin Nash, cruised into
Florida Hospital Celebration Health for MRIsland - an event to showcase the new 3T MRI scanner.
This imaging machinery is now available at Florida Hospital Celebration Health, making it the first
hospital in Central Florida to offer the latest 3T equipment with even more advanced MRI
capabilities.

Nash, a patient of Florida Hospital Celebration Health, is nearly seven feet tall and weighs more than 300 pounds, so he is truly able to notice the difference of the new 3T scanner. Because MRIs are a common diagnostic tool for athletes like Nash, larger patients including athletes will benefit from this new equipment because it has a wider opening. Besides allowing patients a more comfortable experience, the new scanner is also better for people with claustrophobia and it has a stronger magnet to provide cleaner images.

"I think people put off an MRI because it's such an uncomfortable experience, but with this MRI it isn't a problem," Nash said. "I think the biggest difference is the space from your nose to the tube."

Kevin Nash demonstrated the difference between regular MRI equipment and the 3T MRI in Florida Hospital Celebration Health's island-themed imaging center.
