CELEBRATION, Fla., Nov. 11, 2009 - Florida Hospital Celebration Health is constructing a new patient tower that will protect patients' health and facilitate healing. The new tower is part of a large expansion project including an extended emergency department and upgraded imaging center. Designed as a "safe harbor" for patients, this tower will double the hospital's current capacity for patients and continue to deliver the best in medical care.
The groundbreaking event took place on Nov. 10 and featured community leaders including State Representative Steve Precourt , Mark Pino from the Economic Development Commission and Osceola County Commissioner Michael Harford. Renderings of the completed expansion were also unveiled as Florida Hospital Celebration Health reflected on 12 years of serving the community. The event culminated with an illustrative tribute through the hospital's history and growth.
"We are very excited about all of the new opportunities this expansion project will bring to our patients," said Monica Reed, Florida Hospital Celebration Health administrator. "Facilitating more patients and treating them with the newest in medical technology ensures that Florida Hospital Celebration Health can continue to support the local community for years to come."
When fully completed, the expansion will add more than 250,000 square feet to the Florida Hospital Celebration Health campus. The new five-story patient tower will include 128 new beds, 24 additional emergency department bays, three technologically modern operating rooms, renovations to the lab and pharmacy and an expansion to the imaging department. The first phase of the expansion projects is scheduled for completion in summer 2011.
In preparation for this expansion, the hospital will be moving its existing pond to another location on the campus to make space for the new facilities. Florida Hospital Celebration Health welcomes this new expansion as an opportunity to provide the community with the latest in medical technology and patient care.
