KISSIMMEE, Fla., August 26, 2010 - The Florida Hospital Cancer Institute (FHCI) at Kissimmee is currently displaying the artwork of the Lilly Oncology on Canvas art competition and exhibition that honors the journey of those confronted with any form of cancer. Cancer patients, survivors, their families, friends, caregivers and healthcare providers created inspiring pieces to express the challenges and meaning behind their experiences. Lilly partners with the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship (NCCS), which advocates for quality cancer care for all Americans, to hold this competition every two years.
"We are very excited to showcase the artwork of these inspiring people and support those affected by this disease," said Dr. David Decker, medical director of FHCI. "We hope the community will be touched by their stories and incredible strength and courage."
The collection exhibits the emotions and experiences all of the winners of the Lilly Oncology on Canvas art competition. The artwork will be displayed through Sept. 3. The Florida Hospital Cancer Institute at Kissimmee invites the community to view the collection at a special reception on Tuesday, Aug. 31 from 5 to 7 p.m.
