5K Run for Colorectal Cancer Awareness

Florida Hospital and the Bob Holley Foundation Team Up for the 1st Annual 5K Walk/Run Against Colorectal Cancer

WHAT:  On Feb. 27, Florida Hospital will be teaming up with the Bob Holley Foundation to raise awareness about colorectal cancer through Fitness Xpert's First Annual 5K Walk/Run for the Cure. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Bob Holley Foundation, which was created in memory of Bob Holley who succumbed to colorectal cancer in 2008. The Bob Holley Foundation strives to create awareness about the disease and raise funds for colorectal cancer testing and research.

BKGRD:  According to American Cancer Society, colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the United States and affected more than 145,000 people in 2009. Regular screenings, such as colonoscopies, allow for early detection of when this form of cancer is most treatable.
